I bought a 2020 ram 1500 Classic Tradesman Quad Cab 4WD w/the gas V6 Pentastar engine/8-spd & 3.21 rear end about seven weeks ago.
Finally got around to putting some miles on it in the last three days; 1500 mile round-trip from NW Oregon to Reno, Nevada.
Leaving Reno heading west on I-80 towards Sacramento I suddenly found myself behind (of all things) a CHP cruiser weaving back-and-forth to slow the traffic down in all three westbound lanes.
This “rolling roadblock “continued for quite some time; it appears there was some slide clearing being done by the highway department and they were blasting so rather than stop all the traffic they did a 12 mile an hour rolling roadblock.
The interesting part was three times going up the steep incline and climbing in altitude to almost 7500 feet I got the notice on my EVIC “service electronic throttle soon”.
I also could have sworn I also felt a momentary power reduction each time it happened.
Well the roadblock finally finished and we continued on to Sacramento without incident.
The next day, heading north back towards Oregon on I-5 in the Siskiyous I experienced the same thing one time, again at high altitude.
Spent the night in that area and decided to try a little experiment. I continued from the Siskiyous on through southern Oregon which has quite a few hills and a lot of elevation changes but put the transmission in “tow/haul”.
Did not experience the problem in that setting, and have not since.
Just curious, has anyone experienced this message on your display at high altitudes? By the way, I did check the fault logs with my OBD reader and no error codes...
