I have a 2019 Ram 1500 classic. I want to install the factory bed lights. My question is, is the wiring already in place? Or do I need to buy the harness as well? I see the mounting holes, but wasn't sure if it was as simple as purchasing the lights, installing them, then activating them with AlfaOBD. I have seen the complete kits out there, but wasn't sure what I needed.

If I remember right Jack did not even need alfaOBD.

You will need to activate them via alfaobd. 2019 was the first year offered with the button in the bed so you have that option as well if you choose to install.

Wait, there's a button in the bed for the oem bed lights? Is this standard with the bed lights or an option?

Just walked outside this morning and checked.

Well how about that. Walked outside after work and checked. It's there. That's awesome. And nice to see that it works the way it should (being able to turn the lights on when they are otherwise off) instead of just turning them off.
Might be a dumb question, but has anyone ever tied another set of bed lights into the oem lights and wiring? The oem are nice, but don't offer a ton of usable light.

The wiring is NOT there. You will need to purchase a complete kit that also comes with a Genie Flash Module. They run around $195.00 for everything.

I thought about it but didnt want to cut the harness at the back of bed. There is a connector that feeds the switch, took pics and searched around for a t harness but no luck!!

Hello All, for those of you that are handy with soldering and have the patience to disassemble the connector at the factory lights, not the switch, this way you can turn them on with either switch.

Carefully disassemble the connector remove the pins one at a time solder on the wire to run to the extra light wire the factory wire crimp is, reinstall pin and repeat.

Very neat and clean.

So, does anyone know how to remove the factory wire connection behind the bed lights?
