I was wondering that too. I hope no one was sitting on the passenger side of that car.
Here's the thing, there was a baby in a car seat in the rear passenger seat. Slept through it all, woke up when mom was getting him out of his car seat. No glass on him or anything. This is something I've been struggling with, I know I wasn't at fault, but the what ifs for that baby.

Damn, just right out of frickken nowhere. Stupid idiot. That sucks man. Glad you had that dash cam. Although it looks pretty cut and dry who was at fault and what happened but at least that camera showed your light was green and they just came right out of nowhere. What happened to the driver of the car?
She was fine, young and scared, but ok (as was her baby). Speaks volumes on the safety on modern vehicles. 2017 Chevy Volt and 2017 Ram 1500 at ~50 MPH (pre-breaking) and everyone walks away.

Wow, I woulda read her the riot act for driving like that and doing it with a kid in a car seat to boot.

Glad you're OK. I have the Viofo A129 Pro Duo in the RAM. It's front and rear in 4K. Haven't needed it for my own crash, but witnessed a hit and run so let the LEO take a look and the 4K allowed him to read the license plate from across the street. Definitely a good investment no matter what make/model/brand you get.

That's amazing. I'm very happy to hear that the little guy was unhurt in that accident. I can understand your struggles with this. I don't even want to think about how I would feel if a child was injured from any accident I might be involved in, regardless of who was at fault. Thankfully you don't have to experience this to that degree. Keep your head up, and congrats on your new truck.

Wow. Yeah, I think I'll look at dash cams now. Glad you're OK. Each day I get behind the wheel there's someone in a motor vehicle who has me convinced yet again you can get a DL at a Dollar General or 7/11.

One of my dashcams is a Garmin we bought at Best Buy for about $130. The other my daughter bought me on Amazon for about $50. The instructions on the generic Amazon dashcam were nearly impossible to understand and there was no name brand I could find so searching the internet wasn't much good. Luckily I was able to set it up but it is definitely harder to work with than the Garmin but picture quality is similar. The Garmin was much easier to set up and it shows speed on the video via GPS signal where the generic does not show speed. I have the box for the generic one right in front of me. Blue and white box that just says Dual Lens A9 Vehicle Blackbox DVR 1296P Super HD.

lol...oddly it says rear camera but I never knew that. Will have to take a look. Had it about 3 years now...lol

Nothing that couldn't be buffed out, my friend... Nah, seriously I'm glad everyone came out good from that. WOW! Nothing I hate more than a turn like that where a bigger vehicle is blocking the view of oncoming traffic and you're sitting at a Yield on Green light. The other driver should have shown patience though, if I can't see the oncoming traffic, I'll stay put. Makes me wonder if people behind the other guy were honking at him/her to go.

I love your Limited Night Edition, though, great looking truck!! That'll be my next choice if they're still producing them when I pay my Laramie Night Edition off. I just bought it so it'll be a while.

Geez man, I couldn't bear the thought either... The driver should have NEVER pulled out like that in the first place, ESPECIALLY with a baby in the car. ARGH!

Very happy to see no one got hurt! I'd hate to have to go through this, especially in today's truck market.

This thread inspired me to finally get a dash cam. I went cheap at first just to get my feet wet and was headed to a local walmart anyway. I picked up a $29 "sharper image" dash cam and a $15 SD card. I did some some power cord tucking and set it up yesterday. It works great and is easy to download the videos via USB cord. I don't care for the mount setup, but you get what you pay for.

I was in a similar wreck 20yrs ago, where the other driver blew through a stop sign and I nailed him towards the right rear corner of his vehilce. Guy admitted to not stopping and was ticketed as such. His insurance wouldn't pay 100% of my vehicle repair costs because they said I should have been able to stop in time. This is all regardless of tickets, testimony, skid marks, etc..etc. I had to subrogate it through my insurance. IIRC, they paid 60%, my insurance covered the other 40% of a ~$7000 bill at the time.

Well reacting is a timed event. Our computers give up plenty of info, including speed. I beat a speeding ticket only because Google had recorded my speed and the speed limit, direction of travel, where I was going since I input it in so it helped me win the case, he said I was over 20mph in a 75 mile zone, which is a felony. Sure I could go that fast, but I'm real old, 70. I'm past fast now.
