Any of you guys use the Waze app via app radio and also use app radio live?

If so, the question is simple. Have you found a way to use these features without your phone (iPhone) screen having to be on ? I mean if I wanted to have my phone on ,then I might as well run waze on my phone.

I looked in the settings, searched on line etc. Can’t find anything.

No, but waze as well as other mapping apps will be able to be used through car play soon. Do it will work much better then. I believe that’s a feature of CarPlay in the iOS 12 release.

What unit do you have? Mine can be hooked up either way. But to answer your initial question, idk then.
