I apologize I didn't catch that your truck came with the RA2. I didn't notice that you already mentioned that in your first post. Did the RA2 radio display the Compass heading on the screen when you pushed the compass button on the radio? If it did then by all means it should show up on the top of the screen of your RA3. Are you certain that the RA2 came in your truck and do you have the overhead console? Sorry for all tne questions I'm just trying to help figure out what's going on. I have seen many cases where the factory RA2 radio will not display the compass heading. The dealers were unable to figure out why it was happening. Also I think you were asking if your truck should have the USB/SD card media hub and the answer is no. The RA2 equipped to trucks did not come with the SD card option. I am thinking for some reason someone must have replaced it or possibly switched out the jumpseat of the truck. I totally understand what you're saying about the 911 error plug. If it's not right it should show up in a few minutes. I'm just saying maybe is taking your radio a while to pick up that it's bad for whatever reason. One way to check that might be to completely remove the 911 error plug and see how long it takes the radio to prompt you that there's a problem .Do you know anyone that might have a 13 to 17 Ram that you could try installing this radio in to see if you can get the USB port to work? I'm thinking if you did maybe you could try to update the firmware that way and see if it worked better in your truck after the update. It would also tell you if the radio seems to work well in a different Ram and maybe start narrowing down what the problem may be. I still have the original media hub that came in my RA2 equipped truck. I know it's a long shot because the media hub seems to work okay with your other radio but I would be happy to send it to you if you want to give it a try.My truck came with the ra2 5.0 screen. The radio and dash show north all the time now. As far as the e911 I was going to try that but should the message come up right away if the plug wasn't hooked up. I tried it that way when I took the radio out and it didn't come up. It pop up like clock work at 15min of the truck running.
Did your truck come with Homelink?I have the overhead console with power rear window and Homelink built in. I also have the large Dash screen that shows the compass there too. When I plugged in the stock radio the compass work fine again it's only after I plugged in the ra3 radio that the compass went back to showing North. Also the media hub work fine with the factory radio when I reinstalled it just as soon as I plugged in the ra3 radio that has stopped working
When my first RA3 had this issue it would start the flashing process but would fail after reboot because it had older firmware with missing drivers. I used a USB adapter directly in the back of the radio to unbrick it and flash firmware successfully. The more I talk to you the more it seems that the problem is definitely with the radio. For whatever reason it doesn't seem to be communicating with your truck correctly. Since you basically tried just about everything with all the resets and everything else to fix the glitches and it did not help at all the only viable option is to try to update the firmware which is going to be very difficult to do because it won't communicate with your truck. The only thing I could think of left to try would be to try installing it in another truck (if you know anyone with a 13 up Ram)and see if it will communicate with that truck and then try to download the firmware,or try hooking up directly to the USB port on the radio as mentioned earlier and try downloading firmware in it that way. Unfortunately even with the new firmware in the radio it doesn't guarantee it's going to fix the issues. You might want to go ahead and download the firmware onto a USB stick and insert it in the USB drive and see if maybe by chance your radio will pick up on the firmware update. It's a long shot but it's worth a try. You're going to need the firmware anyway so it doesn't hurt to give it a shot.

Unfortunately know. Unless the dealer installed it, it will not be under any warranty.I'm going to try and pick up a cord add and try and reflash it. If that doesn't work to you think the factory warranty on the truck would cover anything since it's factory parts. If not maybe I'll look for a new radio or just deal with it.
