I've read the firmware update thread here:
https://www.ramforum.com/threads/info-2013-2018-8-4a-an-fw-notes-ra3-vp3-na-ra4-vp4-na-uax.73871

I just installed an 8.4" UAS radio and am now looking at the firmware. There's a sticker label on the unit itself which says part # 68331635AD. However, when I check Dealer Mode on-screen, the Hardware part number shows as CVRC27N0GL. Does this match up ok?

The Software version is listed as 17.43.44, so I was thinking about updating that to 22.6. I've downloaded that firmware file and the instructions.

Anyone have any issues with the 22.6 firmware I should be aware of?
Does the sound quality improve?
Does the Backup camera picture quality improve?

I read about loud volume levels for nav which reset to loud every time and don't remember the settings- is this still an issue in v22.6?

Anything else I should know? Thanks in advance.

^^^ this
There's always a risk flashing firmware
Thanks fellas. I saw the 17.43.44 software version and thought that was old and I should consider an update. But since I have 19.9, I think I may leave it for now.

The main reason I was thinking about updating is for possible better sound quality I thought others mentioned. To me, this UAS radio doesn't sound as good as my previous RA4 radio.

I agree uas and uaq radios sound nowhere as good as the harmins.but if you think that now wait until you listen to another application.22.6 made it listenable again but still to me the harmins are way better sound wise

Did you go from 19.9 to 22.6?
Did you notice a (better) change in audio quality?
Have you had any issues with 22.6?

19.9 is as close sounding to a ra4 i think.22.5 was junk way heavy bass at any setting and we were stuck with it for over a year.22.6 helped no problems with it working but still a little muddy and bass heavy for me.22.6.1 is the latest over the air update and new units are shipping with 34.2 which changes the source layout.you can't roll back to any prior ram firmware if you update.sound is subjective but i would say 90% of people liked the 19.9.

I have a 2014 Laramie and recently upgraded my radio to a 2018 radio with Nav. I mainly upgraded to get Android Auto/Apple CarPlay. Upgrade went smooth and I don't have anything to really write home about until today. I have not been driving my truck because of work. I drive a ford tall transit. Went to dive my truck and noticed when I turned my radio on the UCONNECT 4G Hotspot icon is on. I know I have no UCONNECT subscription so how can this be? Checked all settings, turned it off, turned it on, all seem fine. Went into setup and copied the password, connected my phone and viola!! it is working.
Don't know what is happening but I am using it until it goes off. I tried to google the matter but found nothing. I wanted to report it here.
anyone else experiencing this?
Again my my RAM is 2014 with a 2018 radio with Nav. I think my firmware is 22.6 (application Version)

I believe the hotspot connectivity is built into the radio, using the radio/GPS antenna. So take advantage of it, but I think it isn’t tied to the Sirius guardian subscription or anything either. So enjoy it!

The hotspot in the 2018 radio is supposed to be on it's own AT&T subscription. So probably a remnant of the original owner's subscription.

Fyi... Ive been told you have to go to v22.64 or higher (vs 22.60) before going to v39.x to avoid problems

I was thinking of doing the same to my 2014. Was this a plug and play or did you have to buy anything else to make this work?

If your looking to upgrade to a UAS or UAQ in your '14 to get AndroidAuto/CarPlay, you will also need to replace the USB Media port in the center console area *along with a wiring harness adapter. You can buy the wiring adapter here: https://www.m2mods4ram.com/4th-gen-ram-radio-upgrade

Mine had done the same thing. I think they reactivate the hotspot web service to do the Over The Air Update because shortly after Hotspot was working I got the OTA update to software version USA-IR-22.61.0-20200907-I0FF . Now about a month or so later the Hotspot isn't working again but it did work flawless for the few months.
I have no issues with the update. I just got a new S23 and the platform has been flawless and super fast. It's so fast that it is up and running before I can set my phone down in the holder.
