Your truck probably weighs in right around 5,000 lbs
I would try to find a little heavier duty

Quad cab, probably closer to 5300-5400 (mine's 5300). Minimum each 2 tons. If I have to put all 4 up, I have set of 3 tons I throw up front and a set of 2 tons back aft.

I have a 2 1/2 ton jack but its low profile (so it fits under my car too) so it only lifts to 14" which isn't high enough to get the tires off the ground. How high do any of your jacks lift, that you can get the wheel(s) off the ground? Most I can find here range from 19- 19 7/8".
Thanks
(I have to rotate the tires when I change the oil next week)

I bought one at sears that is 4 tons I think it is nice because it lifts the truck with ease and I would rather be over qualified for the job.

I had a 2 1/2 ton which just didn't lift up far enough. Bought a 3.5 ton which DOES lift far enough, and can't believe how much easier it lifts.

Hello guys and girls

When it comes time for lifting or moving, securing a load,or blocking (jack stands)something that you will be working around or under BIGGER IS BETTER!!

Read capacities of the items you are using carefully,my rule of thumb is under the max capacity by 10-20% (safety margin)

There is NO substitute for safety!!

It only takes a split second for bad things to happen!!!

I have been lifting, moving, transporting heavy objects (as heavy as 46,000lbs) for 40 years with no incidents, knock on wood.

I am not a professional rigger,it has just been part of my life and business I was taught well, and learn new things all the time.

I would not want to read about some one being flattened while working on their truck!!

Regards
Don

I might add that I use a new pair of 6 ton jack stands before I get under the truck.
Absolutely agree about oversizing safety equipment.

Just FYI, as I was trollling the net for a new floor jack. I could not believe the bad reviews Craftsman jacks were getting! Seems as Sear's troubles have trickled-down to the Craftsmans reputation for quality.

i have a 3 ton pittsburgh jack from harbor freight that works great. ive never had an issue with floor jacks from harbor freight, despite how people knock their quality. it works better then all of my friends floor jacks, craftsman included. i use it on my cars and on my 1500. it struggles a bit under the weight of my 3500 cummins, but thankfully i havent really needed to jack the truck up much. when the times comes, ill probably get the 4 ton version.
