This is for anyone tht has a tuner to control ac-fan/e-fan settings. I'm sure all of u have read e-fan mod in the diy section. After removing clutch fan to install e-fan It occurred to me e-fan propeller is the same size as Oem ac fan & is placed in same brackets/same spot. Than my next thought was why am I replacing a fan for another fan. I left ac fan & kept the Oem fan housing, changed ac fan settings with trinity tuner. I haven't had any overheating issues whatsoever.

My question to anyone with more knowledge on this matter, why are we replacing our ac fan with a efan if we already have tuner to control when fan comes on??? Is our ac fan is a efan with a trinity tuner?

I am pretty sure it has to do with CFM.
I have done the e-fan mod and can say that the new fan has larger fins and it seems it would come into play when it's hotter outside.
I do not have the CFM numbers for ya, but that's my humble opinion

yep - stock AC fan doesnt pull enough air through the rad when some heavy duty cooling is needed.

It does pull enough air...
Reason behind doing the v6 fan is it has the clip mount for holding the radiator hose up and the Ac fan doesn't.

Its not just the radiator. Keep in mind you need to draw enough air for the tranny and oil coolers when its all loaded up.

*Edit - Being able to turn on the A/C fan with the tuner is a great feature to be aware of and could definitely get you home after a belt failure. Not sure I would set my truck up to run that way permanently though. Another consideration is the duty cycle that the fan motor is built for. Constant use may cause premature failure of the A/C fan.

I live in fl and ran it on my old truck in 90+ heat with no issues.
I guarantee theres only a few cfm difference between the two fans. They have the exact same motors

if you have a belt failure, your still not getting home without the belt. backup efan is no help there, unless you have an electric water pump and a really strong battery.

I second that.....I live in FL also and I have done the same thing. Mine has been this way for almost two years now and I've had no overheating even on the hottest of summer days. I also have a V6 fan in my closet, if it's ever needed.

Thanks retiredfireman for your input,
Are u saying the e-fan blades cover more surface area or the pitch of the blades is different? I'm not saying ur wrong but only difference I noticed is the ac fan doesn't have the air shroud like efan does thts why I kept stock shroud in place.

I think it's the combination of the pitch and the size of the blades. I haven't looked at both side by side, but that will definitely affect the CFM

The stock condenser fan is only 19" in diameter whereas the v6 electric fan blade is 22" in diameter. I also noticed that the v6 fan is much louder than the stock ac condenser fan which also tells me that it is moving more air. This isn't to say that it wont work just fine with just the condenser fan, but there is no doubt that the v6 electric fan assembly moves more air and will do a better job at cooling off the motor. Cooling your motor is not something that I want to risk, so the v6 fan is well worth the money IMO.

Thank u moes performance for clarifying this! Thts why I still have my tyc efan if needed. Moes, can u tell me what gauge/setting I should be looking at on my trinity tuner for controlling e-fan/ac-fan temps settings? Currently, have engine oil temps. as 1 of my gauges on tuner, is this what I should be looking at to see if my ac/condenser fan is cooling enough? Thanks

Water/coolant temp is what you need to be looking at. I have a 180 stat installed as well, so I have my fan set to kick on at 190*. This means that the fan does not run at all while I am on the highway, and only kicks on around town once temps hit 190*.

So I may have missed it but is the e-fan to keep the engine cooler than the clutch fan or to free up HP? I want cooler when pulling the camper. I will be doing the thermostat in the summer. Don't wan't to do it now because it's cold here still.

Hey moes performance, where is water/coolant parameter on trinity? I can't find this on my tuner
