Hi group, doing the Efan conversion on my 2012. Already have a 180° thermostat and I was wondering if tuning is necessary. I've seen videos where turning on the AC works to get the fan to turn on. Also thought about using a universal fan controller. Or should I just find a tuner and get them set.

Thanks!

HP Tuners and set your fan to kick in sooner. Pretty sure I set mine to 190 on and 170 off.

Don't do 190 and 170 the fan will never shut off,the common temps are more like 196 on and around 190/192 off, that way the fan won't be running when you're going down the road

Just an update, 180 degree t-stat and efan (no tune) has been on for a week or so with about 450 miles and no issues. I also replaced the water pump and radiator. Cruising temps right around 185-190, and the fan will kick on at about 222 if it sits, and the fan cools it right back down. The A/C trick also works to run the fan.

I love the e fan swap on my 2011, I have a new factory Ram thermostat though as its normally not that hot here compared to how cold it can get. Almost looking forward to putting a new belt on lol. At first I set my on/off numbers wrong and it would run too much, but its easy to fix by small adjustments.
