front axel HELP

My son brokdown on Sunday with his 2001 1500 4x4 in a small town. Shop said the driver side Axel knuckle is broken and is obseleat. They gave him a part number of 5015135AB. I found a axel assemblie on Amazon with a part number of 5015137AB and the info says it will fit his truck. Does anyone know for sure that this will work on a 2001 Dodge 1500 4x4 automatic trans driver side Axel knuckle. Please help he needs this truck to get in to his house during the winter. According to Rock Auto the second part number is correct for the 2001 Ram 1500 as an axle shaft. They also have lots of them, including OEM Mopar.


The part number the shop gave you does not come up when I search Rock Auto.They have no knuckles listed. It does come up on search for MOPAR parts a knuckle that is discontinued.

Best bet, take the VIN to your nearest dealer, get them to look up the part number and see what updates fit. Other option is to get one from the wreckers.

Great advice. Definitely always call when ordering obsolete parts that show in stock. Car Parts.com is also a great resource for finding parts that are no longer sold new, or for much cheaper used parts. They show a dozen knuckles within 70 miles of me.
