I want the outside border of my grill to be black. Either plastip or paint matched. What have you guys done to achieve this? Pictures of your before and after would be nice. Details would be great. Thanks. Attached a picture of my current grill. I only want to do the outside border and the cross in the middle.

100% do Plasti dip. Gives you the option to remove it if you mess up or don't like it. Also fairly cheap. Just did mine yesterday.

Search salvage yards or eBay for a black. They're easy to pop off & switch, then you'll have the original to save or sell.

Does your white match pretty good? Or is it completely different colors? I heard plastidip made a glossifer to make plastdip gloss instead of flat?

Plasti dip is not going hold up. It's going to start to nick and chip then look like ****.

Ask me how I know.
I loved it but right now my grille is getting hydro dipped but still undecided on what pattern to get.

In my experience plastidip WILL hold up. It just depends on how you prep it, and apply it. I get it that it probably won't stick long term to some materials however I plastidipped a set of wheels, badges and smoked tail lights on a Subaru WRX and it held up great. The only thing that chipped it was when I had to get a tire replaced, but it wasn't that bad.

Completely agree.

We drive my wife's dipped hhr 120 miles everyday and it looks the same as I put it on over a year and a half ago.

Higher friction areas should be covered more obviously.

All about that prep.

Tailights and badges won't chip as easy with not being on the front of the vechile.

Mines just chipped up from rocks and since my grill is chrome underneath. It really is noticeable. It's not peeling. Just chipped.
