Fuel pump conversion

I have an ‘82 Ram 150 with the slant 6. It has the block mounted manual fuel pump. If I don’t drive it for a few days, it loses its prime. I have read about converting to an electric. Anybody have experience with this and have any recommendations and or advice?

It is very easy to convert to an electric pump. There are fuel pump block-off plates available so you can remove the pump and install a block-off plate with a gasket. Super simple.

The only thing you will need is an electric fuel pump and a fuel pressure regulator to control the fuel pressure that is sent to the carb.

There are plenty of good, quality electric fuel pumps out there so this doesn't have to be an expensive job. Grab a pump from Holley or MagnaFuel or one of the big names and a regulator and a block-off plate.

Wire the fuel pump to be relay controlled. What I mean by this is wire in a relay that is powered and energized by the ignition key so when you turn the key on the pump comes on.

The 225 Slant Six only requires a maximum of 6-7psi of fuel pressure. A Holley Blue Electric pump with a fuel pressure regulator would work great.

Sounds like the fuel is draining out of the carburetor bowl , it should not . Rebuild the carburetor.

The bowl should have fuel in it for weeks.
You have no fuel pump issue.
