Well. After replacing my water pump. My fuel pump has mysterious gone dead lol
I have the bed lifted on 1 side. And think I might just have enough room to get the fuel basket out.

I have disconnected the electrical connector on top of the basket. But does anyone know what the other fitting is? There appears to be a plastic clamp type device around it. And have no idea how to take it off. Attached is the best picture I could get. It's the black line running to the basket.

Secondary to this. I broke the damn vent tube. Can this be purchased by itself? Or do i have to buy the whole ****?5848231cf4543dd1ddfcd80372740a73.jpge326a5bdd6115da46806bd6ef1741ece.jpgabd92a1e57de39461d24efae73705739.jpg

I never thought of lifting the bed. I have to track down a small fuel vapor leak that I think is coming from the hoses back there.

Fuel vapor tube for my 2009. I bet they have yours too.

Thanks for this. I will research that more once I'm done with the fuel pump.

Right now my biggest hurdle is getting that fitting off of the fuel basket/hat.

That's either your fuel line or your vent line.

The big one is evap. If it's just the vent tube you can get away with using a zip tie in the holes and zip it on. Had to do that a few times. You can use a pick, you'll see two square nubs kinda recessed in the fitting. You can gently pry those outward of the plug while pushing them Deeper into the recess. See pic Sometimes you can push them in but rarely that works because they fill with crud. You can get repair kits for the line ends unless u broke the nipple it's self on the tank. If on the pump.ur replacing that anyways so don't worry. See pic for where to pry. It's crude but works. 2ad3ee44ea7fd79bcdd5701d379d14f9.jpg

Thanks haha. I'd lube it and leave it over night. Sometimes that rubber grabs like hell! Or try to straight pull it but that's a pain. Sometimes if you have room you can take 13-15mm wrench slide it behind the fitting and tap the wrench gently with a hammer and screwdriver it'll usually slide off just a Matter of getting it moving.

Ok. I'll give this a try. I just wasnt sure if there was some mechanism that had to be released before just trying to pull it off.

I already broke one thing. So not trying to break anything else lol.

I'm dont for the night though. So it can wait till the weekend now

Yeah you have to loosen that one clip I sent a pic of pull that out and the. It should come out. It's an awkward little bugger. May require some tongue sticking out and swearing to accomplish. Tried to find a YouTube video on it but it's all chevs and ford's.... Go figure [emoji6] so once ya get it make a video so we can use it for others haha.

See that's what I'm confused about. There doesn't appear to be any sort of clip around that black fitting. Anyway. I'll investigate further come the weekend.. and when I have day light lol.

I will be sure to make a video. Or at least take pics

Progress! Got the tank dropped. Only to find out u need to put the rear end of the truck on jack stands to be able to slide it out.

Looks like this while job is gonna get done under the truck!

Managed to get the fuel pump out though. Hahahaf35908f90b63f8359fe9b56077669b9b.jpgecaa6b040e18073ba4aaf4aa8d5d43c0.jpg

And front to back! Lol.

So what u reckon. OEM basket on the left. Autozone special on the right..

It's weird. When at the autoparts store, they have a Delphi unit which says it is for the 32 gallon tank (I have 26), and then the one I bought.. but the one I bought says for regular and extended cab.

Should that matter?

That is kinda weird. I do remember something about a fuel pump I was doing on a Ford in the shop once. The guy explained something about length and volume. Always kinda thought it was bs myself. Higher volume is always better. Personally I think its connectors that may be different but I donno. Pop er in if she works good great no worries.

For future reference for the fuel line clips. Clean it with penetrating fluid and compressed air. After it’s clean push the fitting further into the line, this helps move the clips far enough away they don’t jam on the male side of the fitting. Then depress the top of the clip, trying to pry the two prongs can end up braking the clip.

I don't have any wiring rite now. But I've heard you can check the relay by jumping two pins. Google can definately help on this tho. Something like a "tipm fuel pump bypass" search and you'll get loads.
