Hi, I have a 1999 ram 5.2, I just swapped the fuel pump assembly and still am getting no reading on my cluster for fuel. I back probed the blue with a black stripe wire under the driver side fender shield to ground and the gauge kicked on to full which is what my tank should be since I just filled it. I turned the key on and off again and it kept showing the correct reading, after sitting for a minute or two it fell back to empty again, what should I do to solve this issue?

Mechanical gauges work by using a bi-metal strip wound with resistance-wire to heat the strip…and move the needle. A poor ground will cause the gauge to fail.
When you provided an alternate-to-ground in your test of the shielding… that corrected the issue.

Look for a broken or faulty ground at the sending unit.
