I just picked up a 2010 3500 with the G56. It’s deleted and has a Southbend clutch. In neutral with the clutch pedal released, there’s a rattling noise, it goes away when you press the clutch pedal. I can’t tell if the noise is there while driving.
I’ve heard this can be a bad pilot or input shaft bearing, but I’ve also heard that such noise is normal with a Southbend clutch. I don’t care about it being noisy, but I do want to know if something is worn out and about to need repair. How do I know which it is?
