I very recently purchased a new 2025 RAM 1500 with the standard gas tank of 26 gallons. It appeared to have a full tank of gas when I left the dealership. Some miles were probably put on the vehicle before I took delivery of it. I drove about 190 miles home, going uphill at about 65 miles per hour. I am guessing there was about 200 miles on the current tank of fuel when I filled up. It took only 10.1 gallons of gas to fill up and the gas gage read about 80% full when I pulled up to the gas pump. Given the amount of fuel used that would equate to about 61 percent of fuel remaining which certainly would not have the needle showing just over 3/4 of a tank full. It should have been showing a bit to the right of half full.
In most vehicles in the past and on my old 2021 RAM 1500 26 gallon tank I would see the needle slowing moving down from a full tank indication after driving about 30-40 miles. In the new vehicle, on my most recent fill up, I had to drive about 90 miles before the needle began to drop and it has dropped only slightly.
Has anyone experienced this condition? The dealership gave me some comment that this happened "because of all the gas in the tank". The service department member might not have a clue as to what is happening.
