I have 2021 1500 warlock with 36.5x12x20” wheels with 3.55 gears and a 8speed transmission 3.6L
I get 12-14 mpg what can I do to get better fuel mileage?
I just recently purchased this truck Not knowing about the fuel mileage the reason I went with the truck is my last pick up with the same configuration but stock tires was getting 25 miles a gallon if I would’ve known I would’ve got a V8 but as is this truck does not have enough power to get into eighth gear so yeah, I can change the tires or change the differential either way is going to be the same amount of money. So then comes the question can’t I get a hemi out of the junkyard and do a swap?

You're running a 37" tire on a big @ss truck...what mpg are you expecting?? Not likely a gear change will give you much, especially after figuring in the cost of the swap. If mileage is your main concern, you can always go back to smaller tires.

Wider tires equals more rolling resistance. Putting a 36.5" inch tire on a 1500 means it is lifted quite a bit, that increases wind resistance. Both will reduce mileage.

Your tire is 21.6% taller than stock. Unless you adjusted your speedo, you are actually travelling that much farther than the speedo says so you mileage is much better than you are showing, even hand calculating. If the speedo isn't recalibrated, you are getting ballpark, 14 to 16 mpg.

Then the final nail, you are under powered for the lift and tire size. Why someone would buy a 6 banger and do a large lift, large tires, only makes sense if it is just for looks.

I don't get spending 8 to 10 grand lifting and putting on huge tires, making a pickup that is good for nothing but boulevard crusing, then complaining about the gas mileage.

Go back to a 275/60/20 tire, highway tread, if you want stock fuel economy of 20mpg or better. Changing gearsets will net you nothing but better 1st gear starting power, and a big hole in your wallet. If your ego demands the look of really big mud tires, you’re going to pay the fuel economy penalty to push those behemoths down the road.

Get a Corolla?
Seriously, who buys these for good gas mileage.
I got 17mpg, once.
you are right, my 2021 2500 weighs 8200 lbs, with its usual complement of gear. I have got as high as 19.17 mpg on a tank, however, the over all average since new is 15.64. No lifts, stock size tires, no other mods. It does its job great, but gas mileage is not one of the considerations when I bought it. That said, it averages about 30% better overall than my 1996 V10.:)

Larger tires might have more rolling resistance but they decrease your rear end ratio below 3.55:1.
Changing your ratio to 3.36:1 or less is going decrease its ability to pull anything. You might get better mileage, but it won't be as useful of a truck.

Your best bet is going to a tire change.

Once again, brand new member, makes a post, disappears. Has not been back on since 7:50, 12 minutes after his first post. What a colossal waste of time so many of these newbie Trolls are. I am done posting on newbie threads. Until someone has been on here a couple of months and contributed, not interested.
