Alright so I've basically decided I want to put 4.88s in my Dana 44 and Chrysler 9.25. My problem is finding them. Does anyone know a brand that sells 4.88 gears for a 9.25??
Also I love the idea of putting an LSD or possibly locker in the rear, but every one I've seen (granted I haven't looked too much) says up to a 4.56 ratio.

Alright well thanks to leadrofthepak I have come across this posi and gear set for the rear

http://www.basoffroad.com/mobile/pr...offroad.com:80/product_p/ng-ag-542070-hp.htm=

http://autoplicity.com/products/331...o1&network=g&gclid=CJCyprjwzr4CFZBxOgodK2QAKg

And it's obviously pretty easy to find gears for the D44. So now my only question is what will it take to install these? I know it takes an install kit for both axles but I'm not really sure what else. I've heard about this thick gear for the Dana but I have no idea what it is or anything. Also anything special to install that posi unit ?

You will need special tools for working on both diff's, some you can rent others nope. The Dana needs a case spreader to get the carrier out and in. If you don't have the tools then this is not the job for you. Read the FSM it has all the info needed to change gears. Just look at getting a minor install kit.

Thick cut gears, has a thicker ring gear so you can use the old 3.55 carrier. 9.25 has no need for thick gears or a diff carrier from say 3.55-4.56 as it has NO breakpoint.

Alright so for the Dana I can just get 4.88 ratio thick cut gears and put those on the original carrier ? And you say 3.55-4.56 for the 9.25 but I'm going 4.88 so I would need thick gears or a diff carrier ?

Yes that is right, get new ring gear bolts please.

Nothing special is needed for the rear just reg 4.88 gears and a locker of your choice. You might/will have to cut a tooth on the rg so you can get the cross pin/shaft back in its place if you stay with the factory lsd.

Rear parts list for gear swap, pinion seal, pinion crush sleeve, pinion nut, gear oil, rg bolts, r&p, bearings are subject to inspection (you don't have to install new bearings unless yours are toast)

Front is about the same just need to add the one axle shaft seal for the drivers side.

PM away if you need to.
