Someone recently told me that the market Value of 2001 Dodge RAM 2500 5.9L Diesel Cummings 4x4 with 70K miles is up to $40K. I find this hard to believe. Has anyone had this experience?

Is there $25k in the glove box?

I know used prices are high but that is a 21 year old truck, $40k would get you a lot more truck these days.

I have seen many 2nd gens listed for close to 40k. It is ridiculous...but when a new truck is 80 to 90 k. Well, some think they are a deal.

I think selling nationally has a huge impact on price. Sell a truck locally yourself, it's 15-20k. Get it on a respected, national auction-type thing and the collectors get involved. That probably gets to a different buyer who wants more of a collectible than a truck.
