Hi All,
My suggestion on the orange peeling and bubbling paunt would be to
1) let them do their repaint
2) start a lemon law claim
3) document ALL the areas that have problems and continue to diligently look at the paint because if that is contamination of the base metal or primer coat, which it sure looks like, then more bubbles will show up as the adhesion of the paint breaks down.
Then go back to the dealer and then update your lemon law claim and when you are at the point for legal lemon law product replacement pursue it.
You have no idea where else or what kind of contaminant is causing this and probability is high that it is in other areas that have not shown up yet.

It's kind of sad that I'm actually feeling lucky and relieved that I have no paint defects on the truck. Sad because shouldn't they all be 'perfect' by the time they hit the consumer's hands? What's the point of quality control if serious issues like this slip by on what seems to be a regular basis? Don't give me talk like 'well, there's high volume because they sell well'. Just improve the process! Yikes, some of these issues I see, it's like how the heck could QC miss that?!? It's like buying a new ceiling fan and finding they forgot to pack two blades. Come on Chrysler, geez.
I actually believe somebody along the line in QC (Chrysler or dealer) actually noticed some of the defects and orange peel because there are a few areas on the truck the paint has been burned thru from using a high speed buffer. But instead of sending it back to be repaired they still put it out there for sale anyway.
"Improve the process" comes to mind. Clearly that was no fix. Barely a band aid even. It's got to be cheaper to fix it at production time instead of dealing with these field repairs raised by consumers, both in cost of repair and harm to reputation. How many people read these threads and think "I'm going Ford. Ram paint's going to fall off the truck in 5 years". Even of only one person thinks that, it's revenue lost to Ram given to another manufacturer. Ford's famous Pinto gas tank memo, while dramatically different from the paint issues here, underscores how serious reputation harm is. Correct a chronic issue before it goes to market. QC problems in the paint area seems to be a chronic issue.

You cant claim lemon on a single issue, you have to have the same issue 3 times and it can't be "fixed" to start the lemon process. No vehicle will come on the line perfect they aren't ment to. That being said the paint issues we are seeing (my self included) is redicules no truck should have solvent pop massive runs or foreign debris, a little trash here and there is acceptable in my mind there is no way to keep a paint booth debris free it's just not possible. As far as orange peel you can't go to a dealer ship and find a car that doesn't have it. I'm not worried about mine got a warranty claim got my whole roof repainted and the new paint Has a lifetime warranty. My advice to anyone with paint issues is take it back to the dealer put in a warranty claim and get it fixed its a pain for 2-3 weeks but in the end you'll have a lifetime warranty on all the panels that have been repainted or repaired.
I have never herd of Chrysler providing much compensation other than repairing the flaw.

I don't know if a public forum is the place for me to go into detail about my dealings with Chrysler and my trucks paint but I will say that old saying "the squeaky wheel gets the grease" If you are not getting help from the dealer or the customer support people look elsewhere for someone to help you.
