This is a mystery. I have a new Garmin with a bigger suction cup Garmin sent after the original one would not hold the GPS to the windshield. So, the GPS stays in place for between 2 and 10 minutes, then detaches from the windshield. I've cleaned the windshield with a store-bought alcohol-based window cleaner several times and it does not help. I've not sprayed a shiny dash product on the interior either. Suction cup is clean, too.

I recently drove my '68 Chevelle on a 9 hour drive with the same GPS and it detached from the windshield 0 times in a total of 18 hours (there and back). So, it appears the problem is with the RAM's windshield.

Anyone have this problem? Solutions?

Stupid question, are you using the lock down lever after you apply it?

I have no problem with my 5" Garmin.

I would think you need to find a flatter spot to mount it.There must be a bit of a curve where you`re putting it.On mine I used the small suction cup and stuck it on the top left side of the radio bezel.

Try taking some rubbing alcohol to that little spot on the windshield, unless you have the whole shield tinted. You should also try cleaning the suction cup really really well.

Cleaning the windshield and wetting the suction cup are excellent suggestions. If it's still an issue after that, put a couple of thick towels on the dash and wipe the area with prep sol followed with acetone or lacquer thinner. It's possible that somehow silicone from a dash spray got on the windshield. Bad JuJu for adhesion.

If that doesn't help, I'm out of ideas.

Good luck, Bob
