Hello I've been wanting to get a bit brighter lights as my 17 with quads barely look on half the time. I've read quite a bit about options and if price wasn't an option I'd have a local shop that does lights retrofit in some black projectors.

But in the mean time I was reading about putting h9's in the lows instead of the 11's and lots of people love this mod especially for 25 bucks. However I've seen a few places that have items for Ram lights that fit a 09-14 but not 15+. One example is the can bus adapter I saw. Not that i need it for what I'm doing but it just made me curious if there is a difference between pre 14 lights and 15+.

Or should i be good to go to break the tab and put in h9s in my 17?

Yes the 15's have a picky new CANBUS. Have you considered LED's? I'm looking at them for my 2015 as well.

Most of what I read on LEDS is the light is just brighter but doesn't seem to be better in a quad? I just talked to the guy at the shop and I'm looking at like 800 to paint my current lights black and retro them, or 1200 to go all out with options. Not sure I want to drop that much on lights.

The canbus was just my example of something being different between the newer ones. I wouldn't need it for a bulb swap.

As far as just doing the H9 in the low beam of a 17 it should be fine? I saw threads of people with a 14 doing it but haven't found a newer one yet

Its just a regular bulb. Yeah there are some threads about it. But the h9's are higher watts something like 65-55 and 2200 lumens versus 1400. I can't remember the exact number. The light is also more white and most everyone that does it said it was one of the better mods they did for the price, considering its like $25.

Only thing you have to do cut a plastic tab off of the h9 to make it fit as they are the same minus the tab.

I also looked at the ones you linked. Sounds like they are legit. Just 180 versus 25 i guess. Not sure how much the difference between those two would be. I also hate the chrome so I have to buy black quads anyways so if I bought black quads and the leds i might as well just go retro for a few hundred more

Yes I got the black quads from Retroshop. I may try the H9 first, agree, easy to throw away $25 versus $180, then fogs, Id be at $320 quickly!

I'll probably give it a shot tonight if I have time. So if I get it done and it works I'll let you know
