Do the half ton rams have a few different transfer cases? I am noticing the Rebels do not have the 4auto option...

I know of two different ones. One has 4Xauto and one does not. you want the one without 4Xauto.

44-44 and the 44-45

basically the 4Xauto transfer case can and does adjust power, form tire to tire, until you do not go anywhere.
Lots of posts about how 2 guys, 2 trucks, different transfer cases, and the 4Xauto simply cannot keep up.

Since the REBEL is supposed to be a tougher truck, imagine it would not have that Achilles heel.
Higher trmlines get the 4Xauto, CIty trucks or those less likely to be put to torture tests.

Well the ones with auto range still have regular 4hi and 4lo, so at least the option is there to use it as a normal transfer-case... at least I think.

The issue with them since ram switched to the borg warner t-cases in 13 is the the ones with the auto require wheel spin to engage 4wd even in 4hi. Reel pain at times when you really want 4wd

Gotchya. So your saying even in 4hi (not 4auto) it still isnt really a true 4hi. When i say 4hi, i am thinking of a normal tcase that splits power 50/50 at all times.

The 44-44 uses clutches to engage the front diff. Never really true 4x4. That being said I have been very happy with my 44-44. It has gotten me unstuck many times even turning big-heavy tires.

There is a member here that makes a front differential lock override switch for the 44-44 too. Many people are really happy with this Tcase after adding the switch.

And with the alfa app there have also been a few people that have swapped the 44-44 for the 44-45.

The auto transfer case sucks so you want the one without it!

Also, there was new venture transfer cases in earlier 4th gens until around 13 then they went with Borg Warner. The auto one is not very good and uses clutches. Then with 5th gen they changed them again. I had 09 Ram with the auto NVG one mine went out because I used auto. My Dad has an 09 worth the stronger real locking one and it is still going strong. I will argue with anyone the nonauto units are better.
