I have a 2016 Crewcab, Outdoorsman, 5'6" bed, 4x4, Hemi with 3:92 gears. I recently added the Timber Grove air bags to the rear.
I want to haul a Harley Police Road King (800 lbs) from Northern Ohio to Titusville Fl. I'm thinking I can put it on a Harley pallet, cover it with an original shipping box and set it in the bed of my truck with a forklift, at the harley dealer. While the pallet may extend a little beyond the tailgate the weight will be distributed across the bed by the pallet.
Any reason this wouldn't be a good idea?

Only if you forget to strap it in.

Edit: If you think about it, it's probably less than 1 pounds per sq in once on the shipping pallet.

other than it would be funner to drive the bike down there..
You might have a some significant squat to deal with. If this is a one time deal, you may want to put a set of Air Lift 1000 air bags inside the could to help with the squatting. If this is going to be a regular occurrence, consider buying a trailer.
Strap the load down good and hope you have a reliable way to pull the bike out of the bed when you get down there.

Use caution! If you strap the front forks down too much you'll blow the seals on potholes and face an expensive repair. This is easily done. Don't ask me how I know.

It's a 2000 Police Road King with 1900 miles that has been donated to a Police museum in Titusville. Riding is not an option or I would. Gonna have the dealer in Ohio load with a forklift and take it off with a fork lift in florida.
I have a trailer but would rather not drag it down there and then drag it back empty.

I have added Timber Grove Air bags so squat is not a concern.

Thanks, strap goes over the axles so the forks don't compress. I'll be hauling it the same way Harley ships them.

I hauled a Streetglide to Sturgis SD in the back of my '99 Dakota and it barely squatted.
Strap the crate down so it doesn't shift and you'll be fine...
