Driving interstate on Friday into a decent head/cross wind gave me a loud squalling noise (think loud lane departure squeal). It was predictable (it happens with a buffet of wind), I can feel it vibrate/resonate (somewhere on the front drivers door hinge area, maybe driver's mirror).

I've had this a couple times at high speeds, but didn't think it was a problem. In that scenario, it would be just a very short almost pulse noise.

Is this a common issue with a known source, or am I on the hunt for the one-off culprit?

Buy some wide Blue Painters tape 3" ?

Under those same or similar conditions

Place the tape over the Mirror Seams & drive
Did the sound go away ?

If not, lay more tape from the top of the door, at the roof line down to the bottom of the windshield.
Did that stop the sound ?

Then do the same, from the top of the fender to the bottom.

Did any of those stop the whistle ?
It should have, UNLESS you have add on Pipe Rack or Grille Guard

Common with a 2019. Mine did it too as did a host of others per the posts on here about it. I never figured it out and don’t recall seeing an answer for it on here. Would like to know as my daughter & son in law have the truck now.

Well that is disappointing that there isn't a quick solution.

Guess I'll need to see if i can determine the source, have a cross country trip this summer and don't want to listen to that the entire ride.

It took very unique circumstances for mine to “sing” to me. Usually only with a combined forward and head on wind speed that equaled nearly 100+mph and only then when the wind was hitting the right front corner of the cab at a particular angle. So yeah, my truck did it as did others but it was pretty rare.

I'm just thinking of the miles of open country between PA and UT...and the winds going west!

I spent the first 37 years of my life in Kansas so I’m very familiar with the winds you will be encountering. Heading west the winds will be predominantly out of the West/Southwest. So, the winds should be hitting your left front corner. Unless your truck is different from the one I had, that shouldn’t be an issue. If they shift to the West/Northwest……you may need to slow down a bit. Keep us posted. Have a safe trip!

One thing I'll add, it is not a cabin pressure thing. When it occurs, it sounds like a window is partially open and the air is squalling between a loose glass and the gasket. Even with the windows down, it still occurs.

And mine is a headwind to a slight right to left oblique wind. I'll even get it from a semi I'm following every now and again...

One thing I noticed when I hear this is that it only happens at certain colder temperatures. Once the air warms up, I feel like this more or less goes away. Odd and I can't fathom why temp would matter.

So I was looking at the truck, hood up.

I see two possibilities (at least in the area I think it's occurring): the Ram emblem on the hood or the gasket on the cowling.

That Ram 1500 emblem on the hood has some really sharp edges. A crosswind would be blowing across the hood and catching that top edge. I may stretch the air hose out and see if I can duplicate.

That gasket/seal on the cowling could be another place...with a crosswind, too much air is being pushed into the engine compartment than can exit...pushes out at the gasket/seal? That's grasping at straws.

I know this could be a very small instigator. I want to remember a version of the 1st gen had air noise as a result of the rivet holding the VIN tag to the dash. So I'm not holding out that I can find it.

I know I am late to this thread but, I have the same issue since new. Mine will howl at the high crosswinds on the interstate, but if I roll any other window down a crack, it goes away. Dealer, nor I have ever found a fix.
