I got the green light this morning from my wife to order either the super popular Moe's Ported TB or the upcoming BBK shorties. They are the same price at $299. I know that is not the price for the coated BBKs, but I've never run coated here and never had an issue. Here are my thoughts right now:

Throttle body:

good:
easy install
instant gratification (available immediately)
supports Matt and Moe's Performance

bad:
no show quality since you can't see it under the VR

Headers:

good:
final piece for a full exhaust
look great with the hood up at shows
great price for headers, even uncoated shorties
supports Matt and Moe's Performance

bad:
half a day install
added cost of good gaskets and header bolts
release date keeps getting moved back

I'm really leaning towards the headers. I'm not afraid of the install, I've done plenty of header installs and have the space and tools. The TB would be nice because they are available now and will help pull my intake and exhaust together.

Thoughts?

I've never known throttle bodies to yeild a large increase in HP. I'd probably go with headers. Not to mention your truck will sound better after headers.

I've done both, the TB is obvisously the easier of the 2 but with the exception of 2 bolts on the passenger side, the headers are a breeze to install if you remove the plastic fender liner. I purchased the JBA headers. I will say though that if your looking for show truck quality I would not buy an uncoated header. Typically with normal "bolt-ons" you will get more performance out of headers than the throttle body. And of course more when done in conjuction. Definately recommend buying from Moe's however you go.

Header, I would got ahead and getting this mod out of the way now because it's the hardest of the TB and less money the TB will come easy. Good luck.

I agree with headers...finish the exhaust so that part of the truck is complete, til you get a wild hair up your butt to redo it...lol

Have you put one on this truck yet? Because these trucks put out alot more power than older models, so there's really no close comparison to them.

Everyone that has a Moes ported TB, including me, will tell you it's amazing. Night and day difference in throttle response, and some power. Matt will tell you to expect 7-12 HP. One dyno guy saw 26HP, but even so... it's skeptical.

BBK's dyno shows 17 HP, and will most likely make your exhaust sound better.

So as far as HP goes, Ported TB and Shorty Headers are pretty close, unless they were LT headers... which would be a whole lot more difference!

Thanks everyone. I'm waiting for Matt to put a call in to BBK Monday to check their status on them and I'll make my decision then.

Just ordered Moe's TB so headers are next.

Like mentioned, I dont think you can go wrong with either mod. The TB is nice because its just so simple to install, and they are readily available. At the same time, who doesnt want to replace the factory log manifolds with a quality set of headers? Both are going to show noticable gains.

I will post an update on the status of the BBK shorties after I talk to them tomorrow morning.
