First off, I have HIDs installed, ballasts say BrightSource on them, they look old. When it gets dark out, my DRLs are supposed turn off and switch to low beam headlights. Except the low beams don't come on.
When I start the truck at night, low beams come on and I can drive for 5-10mins before they shut off on me.
I either have to switch to DRLs or Hi beams and blind everyone if I want to keep driving.

There is no flickering and nothing happens when I jiggle the wiring harness/connectors. Are my ballasts for the low beams pooched?

Laramie, so i have the quad lights.

I bought led due to no vibration issue. When researching I found that the rams have a high output and I needed another adapter for them so they wouldn’t do just what you’re describing. I’m not sure if it would be the same with your truck. But I have a Laramie as well.

My passenger low beam was doing that and I ended up purchasing the Heavy duty wire harness from diode dynamics. The wiring harness powers the ballasts via the battery instead of the wiring harness. The reason this is generally a good idea on vehicles that don’t come with HIDs is because the stock harness wires are not designed to power up ballasts which require a lot of energy. For our truck you will need to also purchase morimoto resistors as well for the passenger side so you don’t have a light out warning. This setup requires less drilling to the frame and is cheaper than the morimoto mopar spec harness.

Or you just have shot ballasts. I purchased the Hylux ballasts because they are OEM grade and are far more reliable than the aftermarket options.

Are ballasts generally interchangeable, or would I need a whole new wiring harness as well?

Think it's a combo of cheap ballast and not a proper relay harness setup

Nicks probably right..
if you’re going to be taking out the headlights to fix the issue you may as well get some reliable Hylux ballasts and a proper wire harness just to make sure you don’t run into any problems in the future.

I got the same Morimoto HID kit we offer to customers and it's been flawless. They make a Mopar specific kit to deal with our CANBUS

Hey JustRammin....you figure this out yet? I just got the HIDs for my fogs. They're bright as hell. They turn on and then turn off about a quarter of a second later.
Might just have to hit up nick and order the new morimotos now.....oh darn lol
