No. But, some people do have issues with the wiring system in the vehicle supplying insufficient voltage to the ballasts which can cause the HID bulb to flicker or not light at all. I had that problem on my '09 1500. I put a relay in, which supplies 12 Volts directly to the ballast from the battery. That fixed it.
Based on that, I ordered one for $22. and put it in my '17 2500 just in case. Done. I don't have to go back in to do it again.
I know it's not difficult to remove the grill and headlight assemblies, bu I have that monster 110 lb. grille guard that must be taken off also 'cause the headlights wont fit thru with it on. I'm working out of a damn appartment bldg that frowns on any vehicle repairs too. That's another reason I put the relay in. I'm also 60 yrs old and tired of lifting heavy crap. Lol.
