It's just like swapping normal bulbs. No extra **** needed..

I'm happy with HIDs for now, but I do want to try some LED in my projectors someday.

LEDs just aren't there yet........

I went out to a supplier's Thursday, did some testing with a new setup I did on my work minivan, and we tested a few other things while I was there.

The one that made me laugh my ass off........some random light - tested at 350 lux in the "Sweet spot" for distance - halogen projectors. We put in some LED bulb that is sold as a "conversion kit"......that same sweet spot went to 80 lux. Minimum lux in that spot is 250 per DOT regulations / requirements. Pathetic.....but, they are working on a LED that has the diodes in the correct orientation to get sufficient light output. So....we'll see soon!

Not sure which brand you tested but I can see plenty good with my led's. I will concede that there are some out on the market that have diodes surrounding the whole stem and the output is horrible.
Not trying to promote opt7, but their led's are placed, I would say, in the correct position. My lows with the fogs get the job done nicely and the highs are monster and light up my entire street. You have seen my opt7's but the led's like this are non-performers.

I have the Opt7 led (with the arc technology) lights in my fogs and i love them. They're wicked bright, but the focal point is slightly off....it's close. Too bad i couldn't fit them underneath the projector's dust caps because i would like to try them there.

These are the ones with no power. I had purchased these before I bought my opt7's.

This is my led's in quads pointed at wall so you can see pattern. Excuse my cluttered garage.
As you can see they are very direct...I will still post my Spyders with the led's in them so we have an led to led comparison.

I have LEDs under the projector housing dustcap and are extremely bright, I got them from a guy in Canada he ships to the states though....the heat sink is the tabs that bend easily not the hard aluminum round heat sink

Got the Spyders installed today but waiting on the new H1 led's to come in. Here's a quick look at the Spyders though

I guess my question is which Opt7 did you get because they don't have 9012's listed....

These are the ones with no power. I had purchased these before I bought my opt7's.

The ones on the bottom are bright, but not bright enough for headlights. Perfect for taillights though.

The ones on top are worthless for headlights, but good for turn signals.
