While driving this morning I heard a clunk then lost power to the drive train and coasted to a stop. Drive train is intact under the truck and it runs fine, when in park the truck won't move, shift into reverse or drive the truck will not move when the throttle pedal is pushed.

Sounds like the transmission took a dump.

Really hard to say for sure, but I'd definitely suspect the transmission or possibly the converter/flexplate. First thing to do is check fluid level/condition, pull the inspection cover, then jack up the rear and see if the driveshaft spins freely or not when in park (or in gear).

You don't say if it's 4x4 or not, if it is it COULD be in the t-case as well. If it isn't then the issue is in the transmission, if you're up to doing your own repairs pull the pan and take a look, if not get it towed to a shop.

It's a 4X4, when in park it does not move, I tried putting it into 4 wheel drive to see if I could limp it home but it did the same thing. Anyone know of a good reputable shop in the Waco, TX area?

Having been through three tranny failures I feel I'm somewhat experienced and this doesn't seem like the tranny.... at least not at all the way any of my failure or any of the others I've read about here happened. I guess some main driveline (sorry, I'm not a mechanic) inside could have sheared off but it just doesn't fit the pattern of the valve body or inner-workings. Honestly, the fact that the engine runs fine and it happened instantly sounds like positive news.

Have you looked (or had someone look) under the truck while attempting to drive to see if the driveline to the rear end is spinning?

Since he tried putting it in 4wd and it still wouldn't move, it doesn't sound like an axle problem. It is either in the t-case or the transmission, POSSIBLY up front and he's lost the flexplate and/or converter, but if he heard a 'clunk' then the loss of mobility it definitely sounds like something internal to one of those broke.

Since it doesn't move in Park I'm inclined to say it's in the front part of the trans or the flexplate, but usually those are coupled with some other noises.

When my transmission went out last year I had driven it Saturday and parked it when I got back home. It gave zero symptoms what so ever. When I went out Monday morning the truck started with no issues, but when I put it in gear to back out of the driveway it would not move, tried forward and got the same. Turned the truck off and restarted, and got the same and this is when it started throwing codes. Ended up with a full transmission replacement.

Hoping you find out out it is an easy fix, but I'm leaning more towards something in your transmission.

Will the truck roll in neutral? If it does that should help eliminate the diffs, axles CV joints etc.

Pull the rear drive line and put truck i 4 wheel dr and see if it will move. If not Tranny or Tx case is shot.
