2011 Ram 1500 sport with heated and cooled leather. Hoping someone else has had this issue and can help point me in the right direction. Its getting cold here in MI and we are starting to see 20F temps and I’d like my heated seat to work properly lol.

Here is the deal. When I remote start my truck and hop in the truck my heated steering is on and working but my heated seat is off. If I push the button for my heated seat the light will turn in and then about 2 seconds later the light will turn off. The heated seat will not turn on. However, if I pull over to the side of the road, turn my ignition off, then start my truck back up and drive away my heated seat will then come in and stay in after pushing the button.

It only does this when remote starting. It never use to do this. Nothing has changed recently and all comfort settings are enabled in the evic.

On occasion , everything will randomly work as it should. I can remote start and when I walk out to my truck the heated seat will be in. But the majority of the time it has the issue mentioned above.

It’s an odd issue but hoping others can help. Thanks in advance.

two freeebies: reset the computer and make sure your Uconnect firmware is up-to-date.

2011 the heated seats don't run through the radio so uconnect firmware wouldnt effect it. And I have reset the battery. I have also hooked my blue driver up to it and ran codes (none) and cleared all modules. issue still persists.

Same happens to me on my 2010 Sport...
I’ve seen quite a few people with the same issue now. But the forum threads either don’t get responses or the other folks having the issue haven’t found a fix and like me are force to deal with it.

In a side note ,I’ve also noticed recently that when my heated seats are working, they don’t feel like they heat up as quickly as I would like. If I manually push the button twice to turn it off and push it once more to turn it back in, it seems to heat up faster and hotter.
It could just be a coincidence but I don’t notice my heated seat in remote start issue as often after doing the manual heated seat button sequence I mentioned above. When I do the manual heated seat button press sequence I can hear a relay clicking on the drivers side somewhere. I’m beginning to think maybe there could be a worn relay not making full connection. Which would explain why sometime in remote start the seat is disabled and would also explain why sometimes my seat doesn’t feel like it heats up quickly until turning it off and back on.

Anyways, just spit balling ideas right now, maybe someone else can try out on their truck some of the things I mentioned I’ve done in mine and see if you have the same result. If so, maybe we can collectively narrow down the issue!.

So has anyone ever fixed this problem? I have been searching on Google for weeks, I keep reading the same symptom, but no solutions.
Mine:
2010 Dodge Ram 1500 Laramie with heated and cooled seats. The drivers seat started to not work with remote start. Need to turn off vehicle and start again the push button for heated seat. This will only work sometimes. The heating pad tests good for resistance across the 4 wires. I have taken the whole seat apart and put it back together, seemed to work a little better afterward. Took apart the control module as well, could not visually see anything wrong with the module insides. Also, I have bi-passed the thermostat in the heating pad, still the same symptoms.

There are no OBD codes for this with an "over the counter" code reader. Does anyone know if a "dealership" code reader could retrieve more codes? I know that Chev Avalanche will set a "body code" with a heated seat problem. Body codes are not retrievable with the "over the counter" OBD code readers.

Are there any solutions out there?

When and if I find a solution I will be back to post it!

Nope, I’m still dealing with the issue on my truck. My brother in laws 2015 is also doing the same thing. Seems to be a somewhat common problem.

Mine still does the same thing, remote start and the heated seat will turn itself amoff and not allow you to turn it back in unless first keying off and back on.

I’ve noticed that if I remote start my truck and hop into it within a minute or 2, sometimes the seat will still work, the longer I leave my truck running on remote start....the more likely my heated seat will not work.

I have a BlueDriver scanner which does a lot of the same thing a dealer scanner can do and picks up bcm codes and such and I’ve never been able to get any codes of any sort to pop up on y truck.

I’ve never really looked into a fix for it, I haven’t tore my seat apart or ripped modules apart or anything, I’ve just pretty much dealt with the issue until I hear of a fix : (

Does anyone have any additional insight on this issue? Not only does my seat heater eventually turn off after a remote start, the driver's seat never actually heats up before the lights eventually turn off. I have to turn the ignition off and restart to get the heat to work and the lights to stay on.

Hi there @Spt1271
We are certainly understanding of this concern while heading into the cold season! If at any point you decide to address this with your Ram dealer, our team is just a private message away and more than willing to escalate a case on your behalf to a specialist for further support through that process.

my 2011 heated seat started not working with remote start early last winter, to my surprise it has worked and turned on all 10 or some times i have remote started so far this year. the only things i can think of why its now working:
1. i put a new head unit in and disconnected the battery. If you leave the battery disconnected for a length of time i understand its a kind of 'restart' or similar for the truck. And i also unplugged the switch itself on the dash while doing the head unit as well.
2. i replaced the lower seat cover as mine was leather and rough shape, to do this i took the seat out (disconnecting all the wires to the seat)

not sure if it will eventually stop working, but might be a couple of quick and easy things to try?
