How can you tell if your heater core is bad or just has a leak. I have heat that takes 15 min but does get hot I also get film on the window and can smell antifreeze. Do not see any leaks in the truck though. Any thoughts?

While your balls deep in the dash it might not be a bad idea to replace your evaporator core also.

There are some great video "how-to's" on Youtube. These should prepare you well. I work at a factory, and these are designed for "ease-of-assembly", not ease of repair. An electric screw gun will speed things up. Have some small torx ready, and a few extensions. Mostly 8-10mm hex, some Torx, some Phillips. Maybe a few "baggies" and labels. Sharpie and masking tape.
