I have a 2018 2500 w/cummins. We live in Tx so there is not much need for a heater. Yesterday was cold so i turned the heater on, drove the 15 miles to work and the air coming out was still cool. There was also no air coming from the vents in the back. Any suggestions?

When was last time coolant was changed out, if resent was correct coolant installed, you may have a partial plugged heater core or even a T-stat stuck open...

What's your engine temperature ..when warm? Do you have a scanner where you can look at the coolant temp (or via the LCD screen)? If you can, check the temp when the truck is cold in the morning ...then also when warm. If you have an infrared temperature gun, try to compare by shooting the metal part where the upper radiator hose connects.

With a Diesel, because they don't run that hot anyway, just a little cooler operation can really reduce heater output. I've had it happen on a diesel before (non-Ram). So a good first step is to see what it's running at now. Let us know.

100% a clogged heater core. It's extremely common with these trucks. I've dealt with it multiple times. You can try to flush but if it's too clogged it will need to be replaced.

yea seems common... I have a 2013 RAM 1500 and only the passenger vents work... the levers all work so the mechanic said clogged heater core... :-( seems very common with these trucks.

how could a clogged heater core only affect half the vents? i have an issue with passenger side way hotter than driver side. I dont see how a heater core could affect half but i dont know the layout of the HVAC

There is a baffle that runs thru the center of the plenum, airflow goes over half the heater core to the drivers side, the other half to the pass side
