Hi, I was getting a burning smell under the hood, brought truck to dealer they said the heater module is gone. From everything I can find about this, it is a resistor and that is what is actually a module. I was told its one in the same. Right now I have heat and the fan works just only on the lowest setting. The control knob is a bit stiff to turn also, which seem strange if the resistor is gone I don't see how it could affect the control dial making it stiff. 2013 ram 1500 outdoorsmen
Any ideas

Under the hood or inside the cab?

Since you mentioned the blower control knob I will go with inside. Yes there is a resister for the blower motor and yes they can overheat. It is a possibility that it did the same to your control knob (overheated) warped the plastic a little making travel a little stiffer. The knob controls the blower and current is passing between them, so excess draw could stress the parts.
