I have a 2013 ram with alpine system I wanted more bass so I bought the jl stealth box and jl xd 600 amp I had it installed at an auth jl dealer and man it sounds horrible the bass is distorted and muddy sounding it also cuts out on certain frequencies. The shop spent an hour trying to tune the sound without any success they say the factory uconnect is the problem something about not letting the sub be tuned separately. Has anybody experienced any issues and is there a solution?

I have a 13' with the base system.. Dunno if that makes a huge difference though. But my stealth box sounds amazing! Sounds like you may need to go some sort of digital processor route though like a clean sweep to take out the factory signal that's muddy... I'm no professional though so someone here will know better than me :) bottom line is i just have an xd300.1 running my stealth box off a high- low input

I would bet money that they have it hooked into the wrong signal wires and not getting full signal to your amplifier.

In the case of the guys with the base stereo you get full musical ferquencies from the door speakers so you would want to tap into those to beable to tune your subwoofer through 100Hz-20hz. Your case with the Alpine system I think I would try to take signal before the subwoofer amplifier and if that didn't work I would try the doors. Worst case senerio you would have to look into getting a prosessor like the JBL MS-8 or the Rockford Fosgate 3.sixty, but I don't think it would be that extreme since other guys have replaced the subwoofer on their Alpine system and have been very happy. Hope this helps.

In my alpine system i tapped my loc in the front door speakers beacause that is were the low frequencies are. It sounds good to me.

I had tapped the rear but moved it to the front and it sounds much better. Also I found that I needed to use a subwoofer volume control knob to best dial things in.

That jl stealthbox should crank. I have the same sub they load in that box and it cranks. Tuning was a bit tough but some time and experimenting and it can be done.
