I replaced my alternator on my Truck, it still shows below 11 volts on the gauge and kills the Battery. New alternator tested good, new cable ends. I remove the positive cable and she dies. Its the larger amp unit even though I don't have any electric goodies except side mirrors and A/C. The truck can set for days or weeks and the battery doesn't drain down only when it runs. I'm at my wits end

Sounds like a short somewhere. If you can't find the short, or if you don't want to go through the hassle, the best thing might be to get a 1-wire alternator. Eliminate the system completely.

when did the problem start? how long has it been there? check all fuses and relays? more than likely a wire rubbing somewhere, check those grounds and make sure cables are clean connecting to terminals.
