My 1500 just recently stalled while driving normally. Wouldn't restart. Had to get it towed back home. Showing code P0300. If I floor it and crank it she will start but runs extremely rough and won't idle. Not drivable. Very well maintained truck. 161k miles but always dealer serviced since new. Never a hint of trouble. No hemi tick. Never ran rough prior or even so much as a stumble at idle. I fear that maybe the a lifter and cam are at fault.
Can anyone suggest a way to verify without tearing the engine apart?
Could several coil packs have gone out at the same time? Crank sensor? Cam sensor? I hate to start just throwing money at it only to find it needs a cam and lifters. I don't see a place to stick an inspection camera in the valve cover.
Any suggestions for how to diagnose a cam or lifter issue would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

It may just be a crankcase or camshaft position sensor needs replacing. It is a generic code that points in that direction.I had the same code on my car and it was a cam shaft sensor. It is a good place to start if the issue started suddenly.Inexpensive and easy to obtain aftermarket sensor and fix.DIY

Find a better code reader and see if the details are more cylinder-specific. Then you can inspect/compare the plugs in the problem cylinders with the others.

Reading plugs will provide information on the burn characteristics.

Then you can migrate coils & plugs around to see if the DTC fault code moves or remains on the original cylinder.

Have you owned this truck since new?
Have the plugs been changed, or what is the relative condition of the plugs?

The following thread is 4 pages long; there could be something valuable to learn.
Also, try searching threads at Ram Forum using the search utility in the upper-right corner.

Misfire from cam will be cylinder specific, like 301 not 300, which is a general mis fire code.

Keep running codes, another code would be helpful.
