Hello everyone,
My name is Chris new the the forum. I have a 2017 Dodge Laramie 4x4. I just replaced my wildpeak at3 after 75000 miles. I had zero issues with the previous tire just replacing because I drive highway and noticed a started slipping on wet grass. New tires crazy shake at 60-70. Took it back the rebalanced said 2 were out and 1 rim is bent needed 8 oz.

sounds like bad tires and the tire changer probably bent your rim. don't think I'd accept 8oz of weight on a wheel.

I think you’re right the more I sat on it overnight it makes no sense just did 250 miles on the highway on Friday not one bump at any speed. Like I love driving this truck it drives, Did drive like it was on magnetic rails now I feel like I’m driving down the dirt roads

Update got into it with the manager at that location about my rim being bent. While waiting for regional manager to call I took it to another shop same company. People suck balance completely out. According to them crazy out of tolerance tech felt it at 45 in the back of the truck. I said yeah that because they took the “bent” rim from the front and put it in the back. He said no rim is bent. Truck drives great again.

Glad you got your tire situation resolved. Happy endings are great. Many tire shops have a ton of turn-over. You just never know what you're going to get when ya get tires changed/balanced. I make a point to stand there and watch the guys remove/install and balance the tires. I've changed/balanced many tires for many years on different machines, and I'm always amazed at the innovative ways tech come up with to screw up a fairly simple job. I'll bark out instructions to prevent the tech's from making a big (costly) mistake. Generally when they know you're watching, they won't take as many short-cuts.

Thanks for the welcomes, truck is great again. I’ve had bunch of different rigs, f150, Silverado, Yukon Denali, Expeditions, might be my favorite to drive. Not the most comfortable seats I’ve had but man is it smooth on the highway.

Yes.... but do some shopping around. I found that prices varied (by several hundred) from dealer to dealer when I replaced my crappy "full size" spare with an OEM rim and tire.

I don't understand RAM's option packaging. I bought the heavy tow package. It included a "full size" spare on a steel wheel. "Full size" turned out to mean a tire of the same width, lower profile and larger diameter rim and practically no tread. The thing also had a lower load rating than the OEM tires. I could not imagine towing my trailer with it, for even 50 miles. What made the situation worse, two years ago nobody sold an aftermarket steel rim (one with six lug holes) that I could use to mount a matching 5th tire on. The only solution was to order a 5th OEM rim! Things have changed at Stelantis since they bought FCA. The last time I ordered a "full size" spare on an FCA product was on my 2005 Dodge Durango. I got an identical / matching 5th tire on a painted steel rim.

Did you verify it was out of round with your own eyes? Its certainly possible its out of round, but I would need to see it with my own eyes ...after ensuring they installed it on the balancer 'right' ...using the proper adapter.

I've literally stood right there and watched tire techs do the stupidest things when mounting & balancing tires, which includes things like installing the rim backwards, using too small of an adapter, using the wrong type of adapter, having something behind the wheel & adapter, Not tightening the screw down tight enough. There's a lot of adapters on modern tire changers, and some techs never master the basics. Have it checked on a Hunter Road Force balancer (the best), before you spend the big bucks.

I'd consider checking ebay for a used wheel during your shopping process, if you DO need a replacement. Make sure it doesn't come from the salty north...
