Shouldnt really matter what its built out of, as long as the components inside are correct

If you're trying to build a harness it's very straightforward. Google is your friend here, but as has been stated, if they can't figure out how to build the harness then they should not be touching you truck. The Canbus can be picky, so you may need resistors to balance the headlight bulb load to prevent lamp out error.

Let me google that for you

Why did you go for 8K? Just wondering? Was that your idea or the shop that's trying to put them in idea?

Did you finish?

If not, I'd get a harness from JJ. At least you'll know it's for your truck and it'll work without issue. If you have a little mechanical ability, it's something you could do on your own.

Lots of help on the forums here, including my own, on how to install them yourself. It's not that difficult to do if you have the proper harness.

I have to agree with the others. Pack your stuff up and get out of that shop. WTF...If they started an install and can't figured that they needed a harness or how to do it... no way they would ever touch my truck.

The only thing I didn't need a harness for was my fogs.

That's the kind of help I was looking for. Thanks Heywood. I was $500 in by now so I was hoping for the best. Got the worst, they even forgot to put the bolts back in the access panel in my fender well.
7 hours, 4 people and my lights still don't work, hell I don't even have my lights.
No it was their idea, I walked in and said I wanted 5500k (cause that's what I've read here works the best) he told me about these 8k and how great they were.
This was all last weekend, had the fogs and the stuff to do my LEDs in my grille.
And that took 7 hours.
Today I got there at 09:00 after getting off work at 05:00, at 09:30 they told me they had the wrong parts and they would call me when the right stuff got there.
At 14:00 they call me and say come on they have everything they need to do the install. At 20:30 I'm driving my truck home with the same old dull lights in it. Except now I'm missing bolts out of my front clip, and missed a out reached hand to help me install my 2/4 drop.
I will be there Monday bright and early. Should I get the 5500 or the 8000? Cause Monday I'm getting my lights, my bolts and some of my money back.

No problem.

Most won't sell HID's over 6k. 5K is white like factory. 6k has a blue tinge to it. If you cam find 5500K even better. I haven't seen those yet.

The ballasts also come in a couple of wattage's as well. 35W and 50 or 55W. Bulbs are the same. It's the ballast. More power, more light, more heat, lower bulb life.

Anything over 6 and you start losing luminous light ability. The higher the K, the different colors it gets. Looks kind of cool, but sucks to see anything. Also the Leo's can give you static as your limited to what colors can be out front. IMHO it's Rice.

If you can, I suggest reaching out to JJ for a harness. If you haven't got the lights or ballasts, might as well get them from him as well.

If you don't want to go that route, you can check locally. Most stereo shops supplement their income by selling and installing HID and remote car starters. Even some speed shops. Most that do a lot of them will have pretty much everything there that you'll need on hand or 1 day away.

It sounds intimidating, but it really isn't if you have the right parts. I did all 6 on mine. I'm running 35w Lumens HID's in my set-up. I'd suggest that for the fogs. You could get away with 55's on your low beams. I'm not sure if you have a quad set-up or duals or which way you were thinking.

If need be, I and others here, can help you through it.

If you look here:

http://www.ramforum.com/f41/quad_projector_install-40565/

You can see where I mounted my ballasts and 1 of my 2 relay's for the lows and highs. There's no rule as to where they have to go. It's just an idea. The fogs were easy.

Let me know if I can help.

Yup.

The fogs? The ballasts fit where the spoiler bolts to the bottom. The bracket that comes with the ballast/HID's. Just bend the end at a 90. "L" bracket.

Use the existing bolt and nuts. You'll see what I mean when you crawl under there. The bolt doesn't have to come out. Just unscrew the nut and slip the bent end of the bracket over the exposed stud. There's a gap there and your ballast should fit in there.

Should be pretty much plug and play. Use lots of dielectric grease on the connections.

Should only take you an hour. Took me a little more because I didn't have anyone tell where or how to mount the ballasts.

I don't use a harness for those and have zero problems. You will notice the TPMS light go on when they fire for 2 to 10 seconds. Don't worry.... it's normal. The TPMS module is right above the drivers side fog light.

Here. This will help get your head around what your up to. Makes more sense when you have a picture to go by.

Where you see controller.... think Relay.

The major difference between this one and the 1 that JJ supplies is the ground. Lumins has a single ground by the battery connection. JJ's has a ground point at each ballast connection.
