Hey everyone, I have a real doozy of an issue here. Bought a 2020 RAM 1500 Classic used last year, the engine developed a tick within a week of ownership. Bent a push rod, had it replaced. Cost me $5K total with warranty at the time.

This engine is now ticking after a 400KM trip today. It's the exact same sound as before. As soon as I heard it my heart skipped a beat. Lol.

I have been GOOD to this replacement as well. Break in oil change at 3000KM, another at 8000KM and now, at 12,000KM this development happened.

I have a warranty, I should be able to get this replaced free of charge. Any advice on how to go about this? I had the replacement installed by an auto shop about 45 mins away.

I will appreciate any and all advice on my situation.

So 12,000 miles after a rod replacement it is ticking again?

Look at the hemi tick threads in my sig, for lubrication strategies. If it is bent again nothing will stop if from ticking, it will get worse. That is not what happens with hemi tick usually, but push rods yes it will get worse. They need to fix.

If you have a condition in your truck that makes it susceptible to push rod issue, just maybe an oil with heavy EP additives can keep them from bending. But if there is some reason they are going out of cup it might continue. You need a guy who sees a lot of hemi's imo. Can you identify what rod or rods were bent, and if they are bent again same ones that would be helpful info, and perhaps the other shop has some responsibility.

Bent a push rod, had it replaced.

5000$ just to replace a push rod? Because that's more of an engine replacement level price.

GOOD to this replacement as well.

In trying to decipher your meaning. Im going to assume this to mean that the answer to the previous question is that they replaced the ENTIRE engine, not just the pushrod/cam/lifters?

If so, what did they replace it with? A used engine? A rebuilt Jasper or something? ATK? Powertrain Products?

I'm guessing not a new Mopar engine for 5000$, unless you're not including labor in the price.

I have a warranty, I should be able to get this replaced free of charge.

Assuming that you're talking about engine replacement, this would be your third engine?

It might be worth some extra money not to have to replace the engine every 3 months for the rest of the trucks life. A new Mopar engine can be had for $5k,

Again, assuming you are talking about engine replacements, where did the engine come from? Name names.
