Hi everyone! just came across this forum. I picked up a 2014 1500 Express (w/black package) yesterday. Its my FIRST truck, although my company has a ton of pickups so I drive them a lot. Has the hemi w/ 8 spd and I absolutely love it so far.

My first question, since I haven't quite figured out the search function on here yet: I'd like to pick up a class IV hitch and find a million when I look for them. Are there any brands better than others? What are some recommendations?

Thanks!

You could go with a factory hitch but any of the top brands are good. Just find one that sits nice under the bumper.

Welcome aboard. As mentioned above, stick with an established brand and you'll be fine.

Curt 13333 is the one you need. The hitch bar is already there. Just needs the receiver bracket.

I like this hitch the biggest problem is its a class 3 rated to 6000lbs (I used this hitch on my 06 worked awesome) If u ever plan on towing more you need to step up to the class 4. Factory mopar part number is 82213205. Here are some other brands that are class 4 Trailer Hitches, Hitch Accessories, Hitch Wiring

Edit: sorry I just did some more research with weight distribution hitch the curt 13333 will do 1000 tounge weight and 10000 trailer weight.

And welcome!

I just got a factory class 4 that comes on the Rams from a dodge dealer that sell parts on eBay. Was just under $100 with shipping and a lot cheaper than local dealers were charging and it was a easy install.

Smart. Why would anyone suggest buying a class 3 hitch?? Not wise IMO.

Most are class 3/4 is how they rate them... I'm not sure how they do that. The class 3 we are suggesting rated to 10,000 lbs witch is higher than the tow capacity of the truck, and they only take 30-45 min to bolt on insted of 2 hours to remove the factory bumper hitch and replace it with the full reciver.

If they're rated for 1,000TW & 10,000 towing, I understand.
All the setups in your link appear to be Class IV.
I subscribe to "do it right", and would not put a class III on regardless of rating, but some might. What's a few more bucks not to know it will do whatever the truck is made for, for as long as the truck is around? My $.02

They're pretty easy to install, videos on youtube I'll see if I can find one. I have used the Curt 13333 and had no problems with it, it just depends on what you're hauling I guess.

The curt 13333 is stupid easy to install. 3 bolts. 10 minute job. Takes longer to gather the tools than to do the job.

I just installed one myself.
