Driver side fog light is giving me problems. It either turns on or it doesn't, when it doesn't I can just push the button on and off for a while till it'll finally light up.

This was a kit I bought from RetroShop but my harness ended up with a short in the power wire. So I went the cheap way and got a harness from ebay and it's been working great for these last few months... Now this issue started up.

Passenger side Fog light will light up every time with no problems. That kind of makes me think that maybe its just a ballasts issue with driver side.

So what do you guys think? Harness? Ballasts?

that's what I would assume. I had similar problems with my 05' explorer. my driver side headlight would not come on sometimes. I had to exchange 2 more ballasts to fix the problem. if you are not having other experiences with the other lights then I would agree with you on a faulty ballast.

For that reason is why I no longer buy them, just wasn't worth the hassle to me.

swap parts and see if it moves. Swap ballasts and see what happens, swap bulbs and see what happens.

so, they fire up sometimes, and others not?

What was up with the harness, did you get with me on that? I am not sure, might have been months and I don't remember, but - lets get it figured out!

Yeah, sometimes they will both light up and other times the driver side wont turn on. But if I start turning the fogs on and off, after a while the driver side will finally like catch power and turn on.

The harness had a short in the power wire somewhere around where the fuse is. I noticed one night my fogs weren't turning on, popped the hood and when I grabbed the power wire near the fuse the lights flickered. I moved it a little more and they turned right on. I believe I did contact you to see if I still had warranty at the time, but I just decided ill get a quick fix from ebay for the time and well it was working great for these last few months. So I just left it alone but now this issue has started.

You have to have a harness on the fogs?
Figured it was a ballast and bulb per side and that's it

I have a 2012.

Didn't need a harness on my fogs, works great, no bulb out lights either, it's not really needed, more of piece of mind.

I did run a harness on the lows tho for sure, I have the Dual headlights ( H13 )

I'd just run the fogs without the harness and see what happens, if it still does it, it's the ballast.

Either way, it wont hurt to run the fogs without the harness.

Im having a similar issue. Except mine is only the halo on the fog. It always fires up at some point. But sometimes takes turning the truck on and off. At some point it took two days to light up. Also the lights took on water bad. Had to drill a damn hole in the lower portion of the light. I concealed the drill spot well and it isnt noticeable at all and doesnt take on water. However, the nice algae that grew from the moisture isnt appealing lol
