Gen Y when towing light. Anderson WDH when towing heavy. Both in 2.5 shanks.

I've been told by folks that understand more about metallurgy than I understand, that the insert will not rebuce capacity of the 2.5 inserts. Most of the 3 inch hitches are rated higher than the 2.5 hitches.

The adapter down to a 2" shank from a 2.5" will not hurt your rating. I use the adapter for everything. It can be noisy going over large bumps, but I can only hear it if I've got the windows down and going slow enough to hear it over the motor/wind.

I had to tow a 12ft Uhaul trailor this weekend.. The load was pretty light, so the trailor was bouncy to start with.

I do know however, that if i have to tow again. i will be getting a 2.5" hitch, because holy **** it noisy. Every bump or dip in the road. clanging away. It had me worried to start with. thought the damn trailor was coming off

I knew the sound would be an issue also so I went with a 2.5 inch Gen-Y, 9 inch drop. So far no noise and tows great

I use the adapter and have never heard a peep out of it. Been towing with the truck for over 4 years.

Is the general drop people are using a 10"? Towing my 7x16 enclosed trailer, my 99 F-350 needed a couple of inches of rise, the Power Wagon is quite a bit taller. My measured drop is 6.5" for the trailer.

Depends on the trailer coupler height and hitch height. Pull one, then it's pretty much fixed. Pull different ones, then different rise/drop.

Which is why most people with PWs are opting for heavier-duty adjustable drop hitches. 2" or 2.5" is totally up to you, sounds like some people have issues with their adapters making noise while some don't (I'm one of the ones who doesn't).

This. My sleeve has been installed since the day I got my truck. I’m either running a hitch shackle mount, or my 14” adjustable drop hitch. I’ve never heard a peep out of my hitch before either.

I ended up with a 8" drop Andersen. Looks good, will tow with it this weekend. Driving around with it, it flops and rattles incessantly. Need to measure and machine up a couple of shims to get it to stop.

I use the Rhino. They have them in both 2" (10K) and 2.5" (14K).

Holy hell. That's a massive setup. No doubt will hold up to whatever...but you're gonna need some longer safety chains for a lot of your trailers!

Understandable for sure. It's about 4 inches longer than the one I used before that had a different sized ball on three sides, but actually the three trailers I have didn't need any modifications. In fact, on my dump trailer, I still have to twist the chain up a few times or they drag on the ground.
