Bummer ! Always liked your R/T. Mine had the ZF and after two manual up shifts on the steering wheel while smacking rev limiter and two loud clunks I think the trans took a major hit. Ended up just trading it after the guy rear ended it. Was the icing on the cake.

Enjoy your new jeep.

Thanks man! That's to bad with your truck, what did you replace it with??

So, does that mean you change your name to DavidJeep? I am cool with it :)

My username actually references my old Jeep, lol. It was a green Jeep Cherokee Classic, hence GreenClassic.

The 545 is a fine trans in stock form and a few bolts ons but it's not made for high HP and beating the **** outa if it.

The ZF is better but it's not perfect, there's been many with issues on here. Not saying it's better than the 545 by any means.

the 545 is garbage.. it was a miserable train wreck in its first gen form and gave the truck a bad name in the 3rd gens. Additional, stock or not that thing hunts for gears like its going out of style. also, it does not downshift sequentially and holds gears for too long so if you roll up a hill you're forced to goose it before it falls on its face going 20mph in 4th gear before it kicks down to second - junk, and makes the truck drive like complete **** and paired with MDS its even worse.

As for holding power.. yeah sure, i guess it will get the job done but the trucks power and tow rating are so close to the max it can handle its just scary to know how fast things can go wrong if it wants to let go.

the ZF is 100 times better, you even said so even tho your saying your not saying so :roflsquared: (read your last sentence again :love51:). Compare the issues people have had with the ZF's with the 545's and you will see its built to perform, remember they put this exact same transmission in the Scatpacks wth 392's and tune them to shift hard as fu*k from the factory, and I have not heard people blowing them up like we have horror stories of the 545's.

I had a 2014 with a 545, and a 2014 with a ZF, both tuned, both stock. they are COMPLETELY different trucks because of that trans. If I were to classify a perfect trans for this truck, it would be the ZF.

I was trying to give the 545 some benefit. It's not a horrible trans but when it's been around as long as it has and in all the 100,000+ trucks/suvs it will of course get bad rap when complain about it. But look how many are out there? Still fine.

So yes compared to the "NEW TECH ZF", it's going to look dated and the ZF is a better trans overall. Not denying that, I was just getting at, it has not been perfect itself for the little amount of time it's been in the RAM.

and I agree the shifting in the 545 is horrible and if there was a reasonable price to swap in a ZF 8speed in my truck, it would have been done. lol

I can attest to this..... I hate how this thing shifts.... I'm still thinking Manual conversion but haven't researched enough into the tuning ability to remove auto trans programing and not having a manual behind the ram hemi there isn't anything to base a tune parameters off of.

I think somebody swapped in a SRT10 6 speed in a 3rd gen.
3rd gen to 3rd gen I would assume wouldn't be that bad. 4th who knows.

I don't want a manual though, I drive the truck too much in traffic.

I guess it's "Holding Back the Tears..." on two counts: one - my truck's gone, two - so is the transmission!

First order of business will be debadge and desticker... ****, I hate plastic/vinyl words on vehicles, especially when they are chrome! Lol

Next is 1.5" Bora wheel spacers to give it a better stance until I figure out what wheels to get.

I will say this about the Wrangler: Very smooth, very quiet, and very refined for an off-road legend. It drives fantastic and the 3.73 gears and lsd are noticeable. Just saying... Let's see how quickly I can ruin that!

lol, Take your time man, enjoy this one.

I like jeeps and if they came with a hemi. I would have a 4dr one right now. I know and hemi and LSX swaps are possible but there not cheap.

Thanks man! They look pretty homely before the mods, don't they?!

Definitely going to enjoy it! My 4 year old daughter can't stop talking about it, she might be more excited than I am. I partially got this for her, cuz she seems to have a thing for Jeeps!

A couple guys on WranglerForum have the hemi, but it is a very expensive mod... I can't even imagine what kind of reliability issues will come after that kind of swap, too.

I am going to shift gears with this one, in terms of how I drive. This is not a sporty, lowered vehicle... it's a top off, music blasting, fun-in-the-sun kind of ride and I'm going to relax more when I drive it.

Thanks man! It has been my favorite and most fun vehicle I have ever owned... But I need a new project.

Next vehicle will be a Wrangler that I am ordering from the factory this week. I have been wanting to do a Wrangler build and the time for that is now. :)
Congrats! Hope you like it it. I hated mine and traded for the Ram...

Oh, that thing is perfect for California weather.
