In my experience a body shop never orders the parts ahead of time because they have no guarantee the customer will show up.

If you want the part to be there and ready to install, I would recommend you tell them and offer to pay a deposit beforehand.

*Edit: just saw your update*

Owner of a 2019 Classic with 25,000 current miles. Arizona vehicle. Hood and passenger door corroded. Claim started
in November 2021. Hood replacement and door repair approved in March. Appointments have been made multiple times and cancelled by Dealership every time due to various reasons. Currently lots of excuses for not being able to set up a new appointment. The hood has been in stock each time. Many times, I have shown up for an appointment and been told "I was just getting ready to call you and let you know that we need to postpone the repair".

This happened on my 14 express within a 3 year lease. On my 18 Laramie I sprayed fluid film into the holes of the hood towards the front leading edge since new and it’s been almost 5 years and no bubbles coming through. This doesn’t help you once it’s started but after the repair or for others it seems to work well.
