Hood insulation pad

Could there be any issues If were to remove the insulation pad from my engine hood?

It's there to protect the hood from the engine heat in addition to sound dampening. I would think over time you risk the possibility of paint damage. Why would you want to remove it?

Quite a few trucks are running around with-out the pad,as alot of guys pull it off for weight reduction at the track

the sound may not bother you or other equally minded people
But, the paint of the hood may show signs of of deterioration

I have ripped them off many vehicles mostly because they collect dirt and eventually start to fall apart.

I haven't noticed any paint damage to the hood with them gone yet.

The one on our 2013 Wrangler has been removed for 8 years at least and the hood is still shiny.

I have it Krown coated every year and they decided to hose it down even though I tell them every year to not even open the hood.
