Hood popped open with Vararam

So this morning driving to work down the highway my hood magically popped open. Thankfully the second latch caught it, but this is a mild concern for me. I was going probably 70-80mph. I can only assume the Vararam had something to do with it, but I don't know.

Anyone heard of this or had something similar happen?

Do you remember how hard you shut the hood the last time before this happening? It could be possible that you didn't shut it hard enough & it wasn't fully closed even though it looked like it was. I think I've read on here that you have to shut it a little harder than normal with the VaraRam.

never had a problem with mine for the 2 years its been on but every time i shut my hood i usually stop about two feet before it shuts and from there i give it a good push so when it closes its closed really good

x2. you should always pull up on your hood after you close it to make sure its fully latched.

Can't say for sure whether it was fully latched as I didn't pull up on it. I seemed like the second latch had engaged so I figured it was good. Never had anything like this happen on any of my other vehicles so I just assumed a normal hood shut would work.

I'll check it from now on and see if that works.

You more than likely just didn't shut the hood all the way. With the Vararam installed, it is going to put more pressure on the hood to give it a tight seal, so give it a little extra push when you close it from now on.
