The hood might net you 20-30 pounds. I believe they're only fiberglass on the 4th gens

I too am curious about ways for my truck to go on a diet plan.

Different brakes and rotors?

Remove the mat from my bed.

Remove the towing package?

I don't believe little knick knacks like this will cause a significant enough loss in weight.

Tail gate, spare, hitch, bed liner, wheel well liners smaller wheels and tires..... Do a search for track prep, or track trim. Not sure about on here but I know a few other guys that drop down a good 5-600lbs for their track trips.

If I remember correctly TheSatinPumpkin did a lot of weight reduction to his truck a while ago, I think it was him at least.

I don't want to lose my tailgate.

I did see on a fast N loud episode where they converted from leaf springs to struts i believe for weight reduction, that may or may not be possible. Wonder if I could get a bed and my doors made out of fiberglass or maybe even aluminum. I will honestly admit i have no idea what they are made of. Maybe new heads, aluminum heads? That could work. Get rid of windshield washer fluid.

Theres lots of ways to remove weight from a vehicle if you know what you're working with and have the mechanical and fabrication ability.

Those are a lot of great tips.

I could see how I could easily lose around 250 pounds just removing a couple small things, however i would still like AC music and a passenger seat.

How noticeable is a 250 pound reduction though?

Satin Pumpkin that is beautiful.

A piece of performance hardware of a dodge that isn't made for the hemi.

so if i drop 250 pounds that would be a quarter of a second on the my 1/4 time, how noticeable is that on a 0-60/70 time though.

It should be a noticeable change.

For "testing purposes", time a 0-60 (or video it if you dont have a way to time it) as it sits now or just mash the gas to get a good feel of how it is performning. Then take of the tailgate and spare tire, this should drop about 150lbs, and take it for a spin around your area and/or do the same 0-60 test and see if you can tell a difference. If you can then try to drop the things that you can afford to remove.

that would be an interesting test.

Currently the truck has the stock 5 speed manual, however if I ever do find a way to boost the power i thought of changing it to the 6 speed found in the srt-10 or maybe put an allison on it. I am a dodge guy through and through, but allison's are an amazing tranny. imo
