I would sell it and look for a 13. I use a 2013 cluster in my 2014 and had the same issue you describe (flashing P) when I tried a 2019 cluster but TPMS worked. I believe their was a transition on the TPMS for 2014 on.Hello all, I got a 2017 cluster for my 2013... seems like that might have been a slight mistake. Everything works fine but the TPMS obviously and the P flashes in the bottom. Trying to decide if I should sell on ebay and look for a 2013. Man what a difference though on usability. Anyone know how to make that flashing P go away? I can deal with the TPMS
I think you'll be good but they are fairly easy to sell if its not right.Looking to upgrade my 2018 3500 tradesman cluster. Is there any difference from 2016-2018 clusters? The ones from 2016 are way cheaper on carpart so I’ll go with 2016 if there’s no reason to get a newer one.
My 8 speed also did the flashing P...The flashing P is because the cluster is from an 8 speed and the truck is a 6 speed. Might also do it in the opposite configuration. Different issue from the TPMS mis-match.
I just installed a 2016 into my 2018. took all of 20 minutes. So far so good.Looking to upgrade my 2018 3500 tradesman cluster. Is there any difference from 2016-2018 clusters? The ones from 2016 are way cheaper on carpart so I’ll go with 2016 if there’s no reason to get a newer one.

So I installed a 13 cluster, and now I have a new problem. The voltage, Fuel Filter, and TPMS are all blank. THe TPMS I'm not completely worried about because it worked initially but also didn't work on the old cluster, I believe the wheel units are the culprit there. However, the fuel filter being blank and voltage is concerning.
Vin was learned to the cluster, mileage and hours corrected.
To be clear, my truck is a 2500 and I was installing a 1500 cluster without the DEF gauge. I was under the impression that this shouldn't be an issue since the cluster's inner workings are the same. Am I off base here?

It probably only takes 5 or 10 minutes to swap. I don't know of any way to bench test it.…can you test before putting into the truck? This is box I received…. Gauges appear to be in good shape but I don’t want to tear apart the dash if it’s already *****. View attachment 492408

When removing and installing the cluster. Why not reach under the dash and loosen the two bolts holding the column in place? This will allow it to drop at least 3/8”. And will avoid worrying about scratches.Just like the title says
Tools needed:
1 towel or similar
T20 torx bit
9/32 or 7mm socket
Ratchet
First cover the top of your steering column with a towl to prevent scratches. Trust me the cluster is a tight fit for install and removal and you will scratch it if you don't cover it.
Second remove the 4 T20 torx screws from the top of the cluster bezel and push down lightly on the top of the bezel pushing it down about 1" releasing it from the dash. Once the top is free of the dash pull straight out on the bottom part of the bezel it is held in by two clips.
Next remove the two 9/32" bolts in the bottom corners of the cluster. These are the only things holding the cluster in place. Once they are removed rotate the passenger side of the cluster to the left. You should be able to reach behind and unplug the cluster.
Once the cluster is unplugged rotate it back around and pull it out toward the steering wheel. Then rock the bottom towards the wheel and feed the top up behind the wheel and pull it out through the top. You may need to tilt the wheel up or down and move the cluster around to find the "sweet spot". my express cluster came out easier than my premium one went in due to a slightly different shape.
Installation is the reverse of removal remember to be gentle and try not to fingerprint the lens up. Plastic cling wrap can be applied to your new cluster prior to installation to prevent unwanted fingerprints
Enjoy your new fancier cluster![]()
