Well 2 weeks ago I got a call from a buddy that he was stuck and needed me to pull him out. He just got a 2011 Ram 1500 4x4 and decided to take it mudding. Out of the kindness of my heart it rushed over to pull him out. (I have a rwd 2003 ram 1500 5.7 Laramie.) When I got there I attached my tow rope, pulled him out, no big deal. This is where the story goes downhill. As I am leaving I got on the road (the mud hole leads into a parking lot) and I gave it some gas to spin the mud off. The tail end kicked out as I was expecting and as I went to correct it ABS locked up because there was mud on the front tires and it sent me into a curb. Hard. I snapped my hub and wheel bearing clean off, put my rotor through my rim bent my sway bar, bent my control arm, bent my caliper and messed up my fender. It could have been a lot worse. this was a $1150 mistake that will never be made again.... I will have to wait another week for the body work to get done but I can't wait to get my truck back. I got a rental to get back and fourth to work and it was the only vehicle they had left that i could rent because of my age... ImageUploadedByTapatalk1424539788.673162.jpg 2014 dodge ram 2500 4x4. It should hold me over for a bit......

On the bright side, you survived, your truck can be repaired, and a lesson has been learned. Good luck with your truck.

Light damage you lucked out but replace the other hub assembly looking at that one that let go it was getting ready to fail completely I bet the drivers side is just as worn out and water damaged. Save yourself similar damage on the other side.

That sucks, reverse karma... Go out to help someone and your truck gets buggerd.

When the tire came off it hit the top of the fender, cracked the paint and bent it slightly. Living down here in florida it was the best choice to get it re painted so it didn't rust. Here is a pic of the fender and the door, you can see the diference between the gap at the top and bottom ImageUploadedByTapatalk1424547539.081354.jpg

In a couple months i am looking at buying a whole new set of tires and rims, i might swap all the hubs to an 8 lug pattern.

I made a similar mistake when I was 20. Costly way to learn, but it could have been worse.

Well, you know what they say? No good deed goes unpunished. At least you're a good friend and nobody got hurt, that's the main thing.
